The slot

What the Super Scatter edition actually changes

On the surface this is the same candy grid that has been running since 2019. Underneath, Pragmatic Play moved the biggest prize out of the bonus round and put it in the base game.

The layout is six reels by five rows, thirty positions in total, and there are no paylines at all. A win is formed the moment eight or more identical symbols land anywhere on the grid. Those symbols then clear, everything above drops down, and fresh symbols fill the gaps — the tumble. One spin can pay four or five times before it settles.

That much is familiar. The change is the golden lollipop, the Super Scatter. It is a separate symbol from the ordinary pink scatter and it can land in the base game on any reel. Where the original Sweet Bonanza asked you to reach the free spins before anything dramatic could happen, this version can hand over a four-figure multiple of stake on a spin that looked completely ordinary a second earlier.

The second change is quieter but matters more over a long session. Multiplier Bombs no longer sit on a single tumble step — they lock onto the grid, stay there while the chain runs, and only at the end of the sequence are all their values added together and applied to the total. Three bombs worth 20x, 25x and 100x are not three separate boosts. They are one 145x multiplier applied to everything the sequence paid.

Honest read

What works and what to watch

No slot is a good fit for everyone. Here is where this one earns its place and where it will frustrate you.

What works

  • A 96.51% RTP on the top build — above the average for a Pragmatic Play tumble slot.
  • The 50,000x ceiling is reachable in the base game, not locked behind the bonus round.
  • Multiplier Bombs stack additively, so a single strong free spin can carry a whole session.
  • Four or more scatters pay you before the bonus even starts — 3x, 5x or 100x of stake.
  • Bet range starts at £0.20, so the maths can be tested cheaply before you commit.
  • Runs in a mobile browser with no download and no loss of features.

What to watch

  • High volatility is real — dry runs of 150 to 250 spins are normal, not a malfunction.
  • Operators may licence the 95.56% or 94.48% build, and the lobby will not always flag it.
  • Bonus buy is unavailable to UK players because the UKGC prohibits it.
  • The base game leans on cheap fruit symbols; without a Super Scatter it can feel flat.
  • A 1-in-450 bonus frequency means the Ante Bet is close to mandatory if you play for free spins.

Getting started

Six steps from nothing to your first spin

Roughly seven minutes end to end, most of which is the registration form. The order matters — set your limits before you deposit, not after.

  1. Pick a licensed casino

    30 seconds

Choose one of the three operators above, or any site with a valid UKGC licence. The licence number sits in the footer — if it is missing, close the tab.

  2. Open an account

    2 minutes

Name, date of birth, address and email, exactly as they appear on your ID. A mismatch here is the single most common reason a first withdrawal gets held up later.

  3. Confirm your email

    Instant

Click the link in the confirmation message. Some operators will not release the welcome offer until the address is verified.

  4. Deposit and claim the offer

    1 minute

Minimum deposits on our three picks start at £10. Read the wagering line before you opt in — 20x and 30x are very different obligations on the same headline number.

  5. Set your limits first

    2 minutes

Deposit cap, loss cap and a reality check reminder. Doing this before your first spin is far easier than doing it after a bad session.

  6. Find the slot and size your bet

    1 minute

Search "Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter" in the lobby. Open the info panel, confirm the RTP reads 96.51%, then set a stake you can repeat two hundred times.

Registration, identity checks and the account controls are covered in far more detail on our accounts and sign-in guide — including what to do when a login fails and how to spot a fake casino page.

Paytable

Symbols and what they pay

Payouts rise in tiers as the cluster grows — eight or nine symbols pay the base rate, ten or eleven pay more, twelve or more pay the figure shown. Every value is a multiple of your total stake, not of a line bet.

Fruit symbols

The volume payers. Cheap on their own, but they are what keeps a tumble chain alive long enough for a bomb to matter.

  • Banana

    Banana

    up to 2x

Lowest of the five fruits — volume symbol that keeps tumbles alive.

  • Grapes

    Grapes

    up to 4x

Second cheapest fruit, lands in big clusters more often than any other.

  • Watermelon

    Watermelon

    up to 5x

Mid-range fruit, useful filler when a Multiplier Bomb is already locked in.

  • Plum

    Plum

    up to 8x

Top-paying fruit under the apple, worth real money in a long tumble.

  • Apple

    Apple

    up to 10x

Bridges the fruit and candy groups — the best of the cheap symbols.

Candy symbols

The premiums. A twelve-symbol cluster of red hearts is the biggest single hit available without a Super Scatter.

  • Blue candy

    Blue candy

    up to 12x

Entry-level premium. From here the paytable steps up sharply.

  • Green candy

    Green candy

    up to 15x

The pentagon sweet — solid on its own, dangerous with a bomb attached.

  • Purple candy

    Purple candy

    up to 25x

Second-best symbol in the game and the one most bonus rounds are built on.

  • Red heart

    Red heart

    up to 50x

The premium. Twelve of these plus a stacked multiplier is a session-maker.

Special symbols

Scatters pay on their own and open the bonus. Multiplier Bombs never appear in the base game.

  • Scatter lollipop

    Scatter lollipop

    3x / 5x / 100x

Four pay 3x, five pay 5x, six pay 100x — and four or more open Free Spins.

  • Multiplier Bomb

    2x – 100x

Free Spins only. Sticks through the tumble, then all bomb values are added together.

Bonus mechanics

Super Scatter, Free Spins and the bombs

Three systems run alongside each other. Understanding how they interact is the difference between reading a result and guessing at one.

The Super Scatter ladder

The golden lollipop is the headline feature and it is unusual in one specific way: it pays out in the base game. Land it while the ordinary scatters are triggering the bonus and the prize is awarded on the spot, before a single free spin is played.

Each additional golden lollipop multiplies the previous award by five, then ten, then ten again.
Super Scatters landedInstant awardWhat it means
1 Super Scatter100x stakeA single golden lollipop alongside the trigger. Pays immediately.
2 Super Scatters500x stakeFive times the previous step for one extra symbol.
3 Super Scatters5,000x stakeTen times again. This is where the jump becomes brutal.
4 Super Scatters50,000x stakeThe game's ceiling, awarded in a single spin.

Free Spins and Multiplier Bombs

Four or more scatter lollipops open the round and award ten free spins. Those same scatters also pay in their own right — four pay 3x stake, five pay 5x, six pay 100x — so the trigger itself is worth something before the round begins.

Inside the bonus, Multiplier Bombs appear on the reels carrying values of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x. The critical detail is that they do not resolve one at a time. A bomb locks in place and survives every tumble in the chain. When the chain finally ends, all bomb values on the grid are added together and the combined figure multiplies the entire sequence.

This is why the round is so lopsided. A free spin that pays £4 of raw symbol wins with no bomb is a rounding error. The same £4 of symbol wins with a 15x, a 25x and a 100x bomb on screen returns £560.

Free Spins round with Multiplier Bombs on the grid
Two 100x bombs locked on the grid — at the end of the chain that is a 200x multiplier.

The other switches

  • Ante Bet

    +25% stake

Raises your stake by a quarter and roughly doubles how often the Free Spins trigger. It does not change the base game or the paytable — you are buying frequency, not value.

  • Buy Feature

    100x / 500x

Standard Free Spins cost 100x stake; Super Free Spins, where every bomb starts at 20x minimum, cost 500x. Neither is available to UK players — the UKGC banned bonus buys outright.

  • Tumble

    Every win

Winning symbols vanish, the grid refills from above, and the chain repeats until a drop pays nothing. Bombs that landed earlier stay put for the entire chain.

  • Retrigger

    +5 spins

Three or more scatters inside the bonus add five more spins. There is no published cap, so a lucky round can run far past its original ten.

The maths

What high volatility actually costs you

Volatility is not a marketing word. It is a description of how the return is distributed, and on this game the distribution is severe.

  • Hit frequency42.92%
  • Bonus frequency1 in 450
  • VolatilityHigh
  • Top RTP build96.51%

A hit frequency of roughly 43% sounds generous, and in one sense it is: something pays on nearly every second spin. But most of those hits are eight cheap fruit symbols returning a fraction of the stake. They slow the bleed; they do not reverse it.

The return is concentrated in the bonus round, and the bonus lands about once in every 450 spins. At a comfortable rhythm of six spins a minute that is roughly seventy-five minutes of play between rounds on average — and averages hide the tails. A gap of 150 spins is unremarkable. A gap of 900 is not a fault.

The practical conclusion is uncomfortable but simple. If your bankroll only supports two hundred spins, you will most likely never see the feature this game is designed around, and you will judge it on a base game that was never meant to carry the return on its own.

A large win landing in the Free Spins round
The outcome the maths is built around — rare, and large enough to redefine a session.

Strategy

You cannot beat the maths — you can outlast them

Nothing below changes the RTP. What these habits do is keep you in the game long enough for the distribution to work the way it was designed to, and stop a good round turning back into a bad one.

  • Fix the stake before you start

Pick one number and hold it for the whole session. Every variation of "increase after a loss" is a way of shortening your runway, and a shorter runway is the one thing that reliably costs you on this game.

  • Treat Ante Bet as a frequency trade

It costs a quarter more per spin and roughly halves the wait for the bonus. If your bankroll divided by the higher stake still clears 300 spins, take it. If it does not, drop the base stake instead of skipping the Ante.

  • Never cut a tumble chain short

Bomb values only apply once the chain ends. Closing the tab or refreshing mid-sequence does not lose the round — the operator will resolve it — but there is no reason to introduce the risk.

  • Check the RTP in the info panel

Two operators can run the same slot at 96.51% and 94.48%. Over 400 spins that gap is real money. The figure is in the game rules screen, one tap from the reels.

  • Set the loss limit, not just the deposit limit

A deposit cap still lets a winning balance drain back down. A loss limit measures net position and is the control that actually protects a good session.

  • Bank a result and walk

When a bonus lands well, withdraw a slice of it immediately. Money still sitting in the casino balance is money you are statistically likely to hand back to a 96.51% RTP.

Avoid these

Seven mistakes that cost real money

None of these are exotic. They are the errors we see most often discussed in UK slot forums about this specific title, and every one of them is avoidable before the first spin.

  1. Staking for the jackpot instead of the session

The 50,000x headline needs four golden lollipops in one spin. Betting £5 a spin to chase it means you get eighty spins, which is a fifth of the way to an average bonus. The ceiling is not a target you can aim at.

  2. Staking so low the result is meaningless

The opposite error. At 10p a spin a 90x bonus returns £9 and feels like nothing, so players raise the stake immediately afterwards and hand it straight back. Pick a number that makes a good round feel worth having.

  3. Turning the Ante Bet on and off mid-session

Switching it on for ten spins because "one is due" is the gambler's fallacy with an extra 25% cost attached. The Ante is a session-level decision, made once.

  4. Quitting at spin 120

The bonus averages one in 450. Walking away at 120 spins and calling the game broken is a misreading of the maths, not evidence about the game. If you cannot fund 400 spins, lower the stake before you start.

  5. Playing a lower RTP build without noticing

Pragmatic Play ships this slot at 96.51%, 95.56% and 94.48%. The lobby tile looks identical in all three cases. The difference is only visible in the info panel, and over a long session it is the difference between a fair game and a poor one.

  6. Expecting the base game to pay the bills

Roughly 43% of spins return something, and most of those returns are under stake. The base game is designed to slow the decline while you wait, not to profit. Judging the slot on base-game spins alone will always disappoint.

  7. Leaving a big balance in the account

A 96.51% RTP applied to money you leave sitting there will do exactly what it says over enough spins. Withdraw a portion of any significant win the same day.

Where Super Scatter sits in the Sweet Bonanza line-up

Five candy slots now share the same grid and the same tumble engine. What separates them is where the big money is stored — and Super Scatter is the only one that keeps it outside the bonus round.

Demo vs real money

The demo runs exactly the same maths

This is the part players most often get wrong. A free-play build is not a softened version designed to hook you — it is the same certified game logic with play money attached.

The demo is genuinely useful for two things: learning how the tumble chain resolves before you have money on it, and seeing how often nothing happens. Run two hundred free spins and the volatility stops being an abstract rating on a review page.

What the demo cannot tell you is how a real session feels. Play money does not create the pull that a real balance does, and a demo bonus that returns 300x produces none of the pressure to keep going that the real one will. Treat it as a rules tutorial, not a rehearsal.

One genuine difference worth knowing: the two bonus buy buttons usually remain clickable in demo mode. Do not read that as a promise. On a UK-licensed real-money lobby they will be gone, because the Gambling Commission prohibits the feature outright.

Both builds run identically on a phone. If that is where you will be playing, our guide to playing on mobile covers the three ways to reach the slot and the one-minute home-screen setup.

    The bombs stacking changes everything

I came over from the original Sweet Bonanza expecting the same thing in a new coat. It is not. Watching three bombs sit on the grid while the tumble keeps going, knowing they all add together at the end, is a completely different kind of tension. My best round was 212x off a 60p stake and I only had two bombs land.

  • M. Okafor

    Base game actually pays now

What sold me is that the golden lollipop can turn up outside the bonus. I have had a 100x land on a spin that was otherwise dead, which never happens on the older titles. It keeps the long stretches between bonuses far less painful than I expected from a high volatility slot.

Runs perfectly on an old phone

My handset is four years old and I was braced for stutter during the tumble animations. Nothing. Portrait mode fits all thirty positions without shrinking the symbols into nothing, and the turbo option makes a 200-spin session go quickly. No app needed, which I preferred.

    Ante Bet earns its keep

I ran 400 spins flat and 400 with the Ante on at the same total outlay. The Ante sessions got me into Free Spins roughly twice as often, exactly as advertised. If you are the sort who plays for the bonus rather than the base game, it is the obvious setting.

    Honest about what it is

High volatility means what it says — I had a run of 180 spins with nothing meaningful. But the round that followed returned about ninety times the stake and put the session well ahead. Plan your bankroll for the dry patches and the maths works out far better than it feels in the moment.

  • craig_w

    Clearest paytable in the series

Eight or more of anything, anywhere. That is the whole rule. After years of counting paylines on other slots it is refreshing to open a game and understand it in ten seconds. The scatter pays sitting on top of the free spins trigger is a neat touch too — four lollipops pay you before the bonus even starts.

FAQ

Questions we get most often

Short answers to the things UK players ask before their first session.

  • The top configuration returns 96.51%. Pragmatic Play also ships 95.56% and 94.48% builds, and the operator chooses which one to licence. The lobby tile looks identical either way, so open the game information panel and read the figure before you commit to a session.

  • 50,000 times your stake. It is awarded when four Super Scatters — the golden lollipops — land in the same spin alongside the Free Spins trigger. It is paid instantly, in the base game, without the bonus round being played.

  • The ordinary Scatter is a pink swirl lollipop. Four of them pay 3x stake, five pay 5x, six pay 100x, and four or more open the Free Spins round.

The Super Scatter is gold. It does not trigger anything on its own — it multiplies the value of the trigger. One alongside the trigger is worth 100x stake, two are worth 500x, three are worth 5,000x and four are worth the full 50,000x.

  • They appear only inside Free Spins, carrying values from 2x up to 100x. A bomb locks onto the grid and stays there for the whole tumble chain rather than resolving immediately. When the chain ends, every bomb value on screen is added together and the total multiplies everything the sequence paid. Three bombs of 20x, 25x and 100x are a single 145x multiplier, not three separate boosts.

  • No. The game ships with two buy options — 100x stake for standard Free Spins and 500x for Super Free Spins — but the UK Gambling Commission prohibits bonus buys, so every UKGC-licensed operator must disable them. You will still see the buttons in demo builds, which is why the screenshots on this page show them.

  • Roughly once in every 450 spins without the Ante Bet. Turning the Ante on raises your stake by 25% and approximately doubles that frequency. Because the average is wide, gaps of several hundred spins are normal rather than a sign that anything is wrong.

  • Yes, and it runs the identical certified maths — same RTP, same volatility, same trigger frequency. Most UK operators offer it in the lobby without an account. It is the cheapest way to watch a tumble chain resolve and to see for yourself how long the dry spells run.

  • From £0.20 up to £240 per spin. Switching on the Ante Bet raises the maximum to £300, because the Ante adds 25% on top of whatever base stake you have selected.

  • Yes. It is an HTML5 game, so it runs in a mobile browser with no download and no missing features. All thirty grid positions fit in portrait on a modern handset. There is no dedicated app for the slot itself — see our App page for the three ways to reach it on mobile.

  • Pragmatic Play launched Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter on 31 July 2025. It is the fourth entry in the Sweet Bonanza line, following the 2019 original, the Xmas reskin and Sweet Bonanza 1000 from June 2024.
